Music

Music is considered an important part of life at SPS and all pupils, including those in Nursery and Reception, are taught by a music specialist.

There is a dedicated Music Room where instruments are readily accessible. The children enjoy a wide range of musical experiences within the curriculum, including composition and the use of IT.

The Choir performs at School functions and at external concerts and services, including a recent commemorative service at St Mary’s Church, Staines attended by the Bishop of Kensington. They have also performed at St. Albans the National Festival of Voice in Wembley, H.G. Wells Theatre in Woking and Young Voices at the O2 Arena.

All children take part in musical Christmas Presentations and older pupils have the opportunity to take part in major musical productions, which have included Alice - The Musical, Oliver, Macbeth, Peter Pan, The Dracula Rock Show and Oliver! Further performing opportunities are provided through assemblies, regular concerts and Arts evenings.

Extra lessons are available in piano, recorder, violin, brass instruments, guitar, singing, clarinet, saxophone and flute.
