History

During their time at SPS the children are introduced to the vast spread of History from Ancient Civilizations to Modern Times through which they are able to appreciate a sense of chronology. The curriculum encourages the pupils to develop investigative skills and make comparisons about different periods of history.

As the children become older they study topics in greater depth enabling them to get a real feel about the period they are studying.

The classroom curriculum is supported by trips to places of historical interest, such as Fishbourne, Windsor Castle and Hampton Court Palace. Several theatre groups visit the School to help to bring topics alive with their stimulating and historically accurate entertainments.

The School is a member of Chertsey Museum which encourages visits to the museum and provides talks at school on many interesting and relevant topics.
