PE, Sport & Games
|
PE, Sport & Games are well catered for within the curriculum and play an important part in life at SPS. The School's philosophy is that sport should be competitive but inclusive and there are opportunities for all pupils to play matches during their time at SPS.
All classes have at least one PE lesson each week and all pupils benefit from specialist teaching. From Year 2, pupils take swimming lessons at the Spelthorne Leisure Centre, which is adjacent to the School.
Many other sports are offered as part of the PE curriculum and others as out of school activities.
SPS has an extensive fixture list for netball, rounders, soccer and cricket against other local schools, some of who are among the best in the region. The School competes in a number of local tournaments, with high levels of success in recent years.
Numerous House competitions are played throughout the year in the main team games and the Inter-House Swimming Gala is particularly successful.
During the Summer Term each year separate Sports' Days are held for the Lower and Upper Schools, where the focus is on team effort but with opportunities for individuals to shine.
