Melun Trip - Year 5

The Parisian region of Melun, which is twinned with Spelthorne, hosts a Semaine Europeene (European Week)  every year in May.  Staines Prep is the only School in Spelthorne lucky enough to participate in a project with a French Primary School based in Melun.  We spend eight days working on a project alongside children from the twin towns of Germany, Spain, Poland, Greece and Italy.

Last year the theme was 'Les Arts en Europe' and we chose painters for our contribution.  An exhibition in Melun is held each year to exhibit the Children's work and we write a play, which we perform in French at the towns theatre!

We take a group of 16 children from Year 5 who are accompanied by the French Co-ordinator Miss Eastaugh, another Teacher and Governer Bob Davies, who has particiapted in and supported the project for the past 15 years.

An enjoyable week is had by all and the children make friends whilst learning a lot of French!
