Year 3 Visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew

18th April 2008

Last week Year 3 enjoyed a wonderful day exploring Kew Gardens. Prior to the visit, the children had been involved in planning the route by train and tube and had written their own safety assessment. It was, therefore, no surprise that the day went without a hitch.

The Palm House and Princess of Wales Conservatory provided an ideal opportunity to study the vegetation of different climatic zones and learn about their many and varied uses to mankind. In 'Climbers and Creepers' the children extended their knowledge of plant structures, dug for fossils and experienced life as a harvest mouse. Holding a fluffy ducking and stroking a curly haired pig at the Animal Ark was the highlight of the day.

We would like to thank the parents and staff who accompanied the children and the pupils for their enthusiasm and good conduct throughout the day.
