Hampton School U10 5-a-Side Tournament

6th September 2008

There were 25 teams in the Hampton School U10 5-a-side Tournament and each team played six matches with three points for a win, one for a draw and one for every goal scored.

Throughout the morning the SPS team played extremely well, winning five matches and drawing their sixth against a useful St Ignatius team. All of the boys played with determination and skill. The fact that the team did not concede a goal at all pays testament to the fine play of Kiran H in goal and Shivam P and Ben P who shared the defensive duties. They were well supported by Toby W and Conor F, both of who worked tirelessly and covered a huge amount of ground. The forward movement of Joshua S and Ben P helped to create space and scoring opportunities.

The results of the matches are given below, with the scorelines perhaps not doing the team full justice as the 'woodwork' was hit on numerous occasions and there were some fine saves by our opponents goalkeepers. Whilst all of the boys played well, special mention should be made of Conor F who scored six of our seven goals with Ben P scoring the seventh.

At the end of the competition we eagerly awaited the final results and were delighted to finish runners-up to King's House (A) (who we did not play, but will provide strong opposition later in the season!) and the boys were proud to be presented with medals by Mr Martin, the Headmaster of Hampton School.

Well played boys!
