Charity Fund Raiser Success for Staines Prep School

20th June 2009

A fun-filled afternoon at Staines Prep School’s Summer Fayre on Saturday (20th June) has raised in excess of £3,000 for the school’s charity, Friends of Staines Prep. The event was organised by the charity to raise money to support extra activities alongside the School’s varied curriculum.

After a rainy morning, the weather was bright and dry in time for the opening of the event by Fred of Fred’s Flying Circus. The two performances by Fred’s troupe were a great success, entertaining parents and children in their ‘little big top’ with stunning acts of juggling, unicycling, trapeze, magic, dance, illusions and clowning around.

Outside and indoors, numerous stalls, food and refreshment stops kept everyone amused and contented throughout the afternoon, with teachers and even the head master able to ‘cool off’ by taking a turn in the stocks, being pelted by wet sponges.

Chairman of the Friends fund raising group Clint Theophilus extended his thanks, saying, “We are extremely grateful to all who came, helped, organised and donated to making the event such a success. The profits will go towards the purchase of a new minibus for the school.”
