On Friday 9th February, the U11 Girls Hockey team took part in The Bellevue Hockey Tournament at Old Cranleighan’s Hockey Club. 10 schools in total were present and we started in a strong pool where we won all our games apart from one, which we lost in the dying seconds of the game.
We were then placed into the quarter finals against Ewell Castle, and we won this game convincingly, putting us through to the semi-finals. It was an exciting match against Weston Green, and we drew, which meant we had to go to shuffles.
Shuffles is a 1 v 1 against the Goalkeeper with the outfield player having 8 seconds to score a goal. It was very tense for all involved and unfortunately, we lost the shuffles to the eventual tournament winners. Then it was down to 3rd and 4th play off against Skippers Hill which we won 2-1, so we gained a bronze medal which was a great result.
The standard of hockey by the girls was fantastic and a real pleasure to watch. Well done!
