There were some fabulous entries demonstrating what wonderful artists we have in the school. The PMC is a fun and exciting maths challenge that is sat by children across the UK. We were treated to performances from the Staff Choir, Concert Band, Lower School Singers, Upper School Singers and Chamber Choir, as well as congregational carols, readings from our Pupil Leadership Team and addresses from Ms Sawyer and our special guest, the Mayor of Spelthorne, Cllr Med Buck. - [Gymkidz Competition](https://www.stainesprep.co.uk/gymkidz-competition/): On Wednesday this week, 13 pupils participated in the GymKidz competition over at Heathrow Gym. It was a fun event to promote participation and included a novice floor routine to demonstrate individual skills and vault. The pupils had a lovely day and all received certificates. - [BSGA U11 Milano Trios Success](https://www.stainesprep.co.uk/bsga-u11-milano-trios-success/): The Milano Trios is an exciting team event where up to four members compete across three areas: group floor, individual floor, and vault. This year, we proudly entered four teams: U11 Boys, U11 Girls, U11 Mixed National, and U11 Mixed Regional. - [Year 4 Geography Trip](https://www.stainesprep.co.uk/year-4-geography-trip/): On Wednesday morning, having avoided the deluge of rain that had flooded a lot of the surrounding areas, Year 4 pupils set off to Laleham Village as part of their studies of settlements this term. This gave them an opportunity to identify different types of dwellings such as bungalows, detached homes, semi-detached homes, terraces, Georgian town houses and riverboats! They were also able to see the sorts of features that they might have expected to see in a village setting such as a church, a village shop, a monument and a school. They were also able to identify features that you would not necessarily expect to find in a village such as a car showroom or a film studio! - [Year 1 Victorian Day](https://www.stainesprep.co.uk/year-1-victorian-day/): On Wednesday, Year 1 went back in time to the Victorian times to have a taste of what life was like for a Victorian child. This is a fantastic achievement celebrating our pupils as confident, imaginative and creative authors! - [Remembrance Service](https://www.stainesprep.co.uk/remembrance-service/): To mark Remembrance Day, our whole school gathered on Monday morning in the Jubilee Quad for a service of remembrance. - [Chelsea FC Foundation – BHM Workshop](https://www.stainesprep.co.uk/7810-2/): Last half term, pupils in Years 4-6 had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a workshop hosted by the Chelsea FC Foundation, where they explored the importance of black history and its influences within the world of football. Inspired by the flags often seen at football matches, our pupils created their own flags to celebrate Black History Month. - [French Trip](https://www.stainesprep.co.uk/french-trip/): We had a wonderful time visiting the Opal Coast area in France. It was a great opportunity to put our French learning into practice and experience French food and culture first-hand. An action-packed three days included bread-making at a traditional bakery, buying food from a local market to make our own baguettes and visiting Europe's largest aquarium. Today we raised £209. - [European Day of Languages](https://www.stainesprep.co.uk/european-day-of-languages-2/): On Thursday 26th September, we celebrated European Day of Languages. - [Year 4 Residential to Runways End](https://www.stainesprep.co.uk/year-4-residential-to-runways-end/): Year 4 had a thoroughly enjoyable time at Runways End, based in the Aldershot Camp on the edge of the Basingstoke Canal. Despite the unsettled weather, all the children participated in a range of activities that developed their confidence, listening skills and resilience. They pushed themselves individually through archery, caving and rock climbing, and strengthened their team building skills with canoeing, Egg Drop, orienteering and Water Rockets. We enjoyed the wonderful selection of food at mealtimes and facilities that were available, including the camp fire. - [Year 6 Buddy Training](https://www.stainesprep.co.uk/year-6-buddy-training-2/): Year 6 pupils spent the day ‘off timetable’ today to participate in leadership training. What an end to the school year, and also a fabulous fitting finish for our brilliant Year 6 pupils. On Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon, audiences were treated to a side-splitting treat with a hilarious musical comedy performed by our Year 6 children. They delivered amazing acting performances, sung stunning solo pieces, demonstrated tremendous teamwork and illustrated just how awesome they are! - [Year 1 Space Exhibition](https://www.stainesprep.co.uk/year-1-space-exhibition/): Year 1 have really enjoyed creating some fantastic rockets, dioramas and a range of solar system models as part of their homework project to show what they have learnt during our Space topic in English this term. It is a fantastic occasion where the whole SPS community comes together to celebrate the sporting prowess of our pupils. The children had to rotate round 8 stations and complete several Badminton skills, gaining points whilst they did so.
