Past Pupil Memories
The following page shares interviews with some of our recent Year 6 leavers. They share their experiences and memories of the time they spent here at Staines Prep and where they are now. We invite you to click on each child to read more about their story.

What do you miss about Staines Prep?
The warm and lovely community - my friends and teachers who were kind and supportive all the way through.
What are your fondest memories of Staines Prep?
I really loved Sanctuary time as I could be with my friends in nature and learn new outdoor skills. I really enjoyed playing with my friends and participating in the wide range of opportunities and activities that were available.
What was your favourite trip/event at Staines Prep?
Year 6 Bath trip. We had lots of fun as a whole group together in the final year at SPS while also learning a lot during the trip.
What was your biggest achievement at Staines Prep?
Being given the Staines Prep Art Award. I would also like to state that it was a proud moment to visit the Amazon Headquarters in London as part of the team at the Purple Mash eSafety games competition.
What advice would you give to Staines Prep pupils?
Enjoy yourselves and make the most of the time and opportunities at SPS. I definitely miss my days here.
How do you feel Staines Prep prepared you for senior school?
Academically, we were well prepared by our teachers and most of us cleared quite a few selective exams for secondary schools (both private and grammar) and were awarded scholarships. Staines Prep taught me life skills that I will hold on to forever; kindness, honesty, compassion, resilience, confidence, discipline and friendship.
Any additional comments
I truly enjoyed my time in SPS and feel proud of the well rounded development that I received here. I am sure that everyone who has been to SPS will agree to my views.

What do you miss about Staines Prep?
The vast amount of opportunities it offered me to excel and thrive in a good learning environment.
What are your fondest memories of Staines Prep?
Some of my fondest memories at Staines Prep include attending the Science Fair when I was in Year 2, and learning about the various erosional processes in Geography in Years 5 & 6.
What was your favourite trip/event at Staines Prep?
My favourite event at Staines Prep was going to Kingswood, Isle of Wight in Year 5 which was genuinely an experience that I will remember forever, because it was the first time I stayed alone without my parents.
I also enjoyed performing in the Christmas plays, as they were entertaining to watch and perform.
What was your biggest achievement at Staines Prep?
In Year 6, I earned a gold certificate in the Primary Maths Challenge, along with a silver certificate in the Junior Maths Challenge. In Year 7, I built on this and got through to the Olympiad round of the Junior Maths Challenge.
What advice would you give to Staines Prep pupils?
I would say that you should always aspire for more. Sometimes you aren’t setting the bar high for yourself and not unlocking your full potential. Challenging yourself is a good way to test your limits.
How do you feel Staines Prep prepared you for senior school?
Staines Prep has an outstanding behavioural policy. The policy rewards you well for your achievements, yet it does not fail to punish you for your misdemeanours. In secondary school, expectations from the teachers are much higher, and though some struggled, Staines Prep allowed me to have a seamless transition to secondary school.
Any additional comments
The Staines Prep Chamber Choir really helped me develop as a singer. As of writing this, I sing Soprano 2/Treble 2 for the Tiffin School Choir, one of the most famous choirs in the country and even in the world. We have recorded multiple pieces, been broadcasted on BBC Radio multiple times and performed at famous venues such as the Barbican Centre and the Royal Albert Hall.
In September 2024, a few other Sopranos and I were selected to record a couple of songs from Benjamin Britten’s Missa Brevis in D for the upcoming Netflix series ‘The Lord of the Flies’.
The SPS Music Department helped me find my talent for singing and allowed me to thrive in an impeccable environment. Without this, I would not have been able to join or sing for the Tiffin School Choir.

How nice the environment was and how well people got along.
What are your fondest memories of Staines Prep?
I have more happy memories with my friends than I’m able to put on this form.
What was your favourite trip/event at Staines Prep?
Going to Bath for my Year 6 trip. I really enjoyed being away for a whole week, doing lots of different activities with my friends. I particularly enjoyed the walk at Cheddar Gorge.
What was your biggest achievement at Staines Prep?
My Year 6 production, which sparked my love of performing arts.
What advice would you give to Staines Prep pupils?
Always keep a positive mindset and try to stay in touch with friends when you move schools.
How do you feel Staines Prep prepared you for senior school?
The Staines Prep way gave me a foundation for building resilience to overcome the challenges of senior school.

I really enjoyed my time at Staines Prep and took away some great memories and great friendships.
