As your child takes their final steps at Staines Prep before heading off for new adventures they will relish the opportunity to take on roles of responsibility throughout the school.
Our Pupil Leadership Team roles given to our Year 6 pupils include Head Boy and Head Girl, Prefects and House Captains.
Towards the end of Year 5 your child can apply for a role, stating their case as to what they would like to do and what they can bring to the role. Following interviews, pupil votes and staff discussions our Senior Leadership Team makes the final decisions, to be announced in the first week of the new academic year (autumn term).
Many congratulations to our Pupil Leadership Team who have been chosen to represent SPS for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Head Boy and Head Girl are ambassadors for the school, confidently making speeches at functions or showing prospective parents round the school. They set a high standard in both behaviour and personal presentation.
We are pleased to introduce this year’s Head Girl as Dharika N and Head Boy as Harry D.
My name is Dharika, I have been in the school since Nursery and am honoured to be presented with the role of Head Girl.
I have always admired the blue ties, and whenever I am outside the ICT Room, I read all the names of those before me. The teachers provided me with so much support and made everyone welcome. They approach all of your problems with a positive attitude, and I am so grateful.
I enjoy playing the guitar, writing, drawing, and playing with my dog. I have been part of many clubs here. I am a keen eco warrior and have been an Eco Rep twice. I am so grateful for all the support, and I am excited to watch the school grow during my last year here, and I am ready to give my all.
My name is Harry, and I am proud to have been chosen to be Head Boy this year.
When I was younger, I always looked up to people with blue ties and I’m so happy I get to be one of those people. As Head Boy, I hope to show people to follow the SPS Way and work towards building resilience. I will endeavour to be a good role model and be kind and helpful.
I love a variety of sports including tennis, badminton, basketball, dodgeball, swimming and running. I also love being creative and enjoy drawing. I’m a huge LEGO fan and collect minifigures. I’m looking forward to promoting our school’s values, as well as making the school a happy and welcoming place to learn and play.

When my name was called out in assembly, my first feelings were a wave of delight mixed with surprise. I was extremely elated to take on the role of Prefect. In my lower years, I often looked up to the previous Year 6 pupils with blue ties and admired them a lot.
As I am a Buddy too, you can come to me for help if you wish during break times. I am very proud to be part of the Pupil Leadership Team. Being a Prefect, I will always demonstrate the Staines Prep Way, be a role model and assist younger children, along with our incredible teachers when they are in need.
We should inspire people around us to not litter our environment and hope that everyone will look after our planet, as there is no Planet B!
My name is Saanvi, and I have been chosen to be a Prefect.
I have always wanted to earn the blue tie responsibility, since starting this school in Reception. I am sensible in and around school, and during lessons too.

To know now that younger children will hopefully look up to me is a great feeling. I am looking forward to seeing how the school will develop in my last year here. I am so grateful for all the support from the teachers. I love doodling, playing with my dog, reading, playing hockey, and solving puzzles.
This year, I hope I make this school proud!
House Captains are team players, who take great pride in their House. They lead their House each week in assemblies and on sports days, demonstrating great sportsmanship whether they win or lose.
This year’s House Captains are: Aaryan P, Yanai K, Tami A, Abhya Y, Shreya S, Dilraj B, Harleen A and Rory G
My name is Aaryan, and I am a House Captain.
It was in Year 1 that I first noticed some of the Year 6 pupils wore blue ties and I knew then that I wanted to have a blue tie in Year 6 as well. I felt very proud when Ms Sawyer called out my name during assembly. I was awarded the role of House Captain and to lead Dahl in my final year of school, this was something that I always wanted to do.
I know that the role comes with a lot of responsibilities, and I am no stranger to demonstrating these as I am captain of my local football team, Abbey Rangers, as well as playing in the A teams at school for football, rugby, and cricket.
I am looking forward to being a fantastic role model to all the year groups at school and hopefully inspire them to also be a proud owner of a blue tie when it's their chance to take on the responsibility.
My name is Yanai, and I am a House Captain.
I have been in this school since Nursery I have always admired those with roles of responsibilities especially those with a blue tie. I made a promise to myself that I would try my hardest to get a role with a blue tie. I was so incredibly happy when I was rewarded such an honourable role of Dahl House Captain, and I am excited to get started.
I think I am good fit for this role as I enjoy sports, athletics, and netball in particular. I would like to give a big thanks to my friends and family for encouraging me to apply for this role and the teachers for awarding it to me.
My hobbies are reading, drawing and riddles. I look forward to giving back to the school.
My name is Tami, and I am a House Captain.
I promise to bring kindness and leadership to this role. I will also bring competitiveness in sports. I look forward to meeting most of the rest of the school during my Buddy duties and I will try to lead Attenborough to victory in competitions such as Sports Day and House Points.
I really wanted this role, to follow in the footsteps of my brother Demi who also helped Attenborough win Sports Day and House Points last year.
I think of Buddying as a way of giving back to the school, as I was buddied by a lot of kind Year 6 pupils!
My name is Abhya, and I am an Attenborough House Captain, and I am committed to providing as much help as possible.
When my name was called out in the assembly, I was overjoyed, knowing that this was my chance to shine. Ever since I joined SPS, I have looked up to the senior pupils with blue ties. It has been my dream to wear one myself.
I will thrive in this role and be the best House Captain I can be, ensuring that I contribute positively to both you and the school.
My name is Shreya, and I am a House Captain for Ennis-Hill.
Ever since I joined SPS in reception I have always looked up to the House Captains and aspired to be one. I always tried my best so that I would have a chance of getting this prestigious role.
The day of the assembly I was strongly hoping I would get this magnificent role, and when Ms Sawyer called my name, I jumped up and strode confidently to the front. I was smiling so much my cheeks were hurting. I shook Ms Sawyer's firm hand and received my House Captain badge with pride. I bubbled with contentment and enthusiasm. That was one of the best days of my life!
My name is Dilraj, and I am a House Captain.
I have been a student at this magnificent school since Nursery and now I have made it to my final year. I am proud to achieve this leadership role as Ennis-Hill's House Captain for 2023-2024. This role is an amazing opportunity, as I am very passionate about sports and teamwork. I am pleased to represent all my fellow students in Ennis-Hill House in the greatest way possible.
I will always encourage everyone to do their best and achieve House points together as a team. I promise to lead by example and will be immensely proud in representing our school at events, such as Open Days, so others can also have the chance to be a part of our phenomenal Staines Prep family.
My name is Harleen, and I am honoured to have been given the role of House Captain for Seacole.
I like to think of myself as a competitive team member who supports others in any way necessary. When they called my name as House Captain, I felt privileged and excited for the challenge this coming year will bring. I am especially excited to lead Seacole in Sports Day this year - and hope to be running the victory lap!
I am passionate about many sports but I especially enjoying playing netball and cricket. I would love to help others in all year groups in a way that they feel that they can reach their goals and get involved in the many school activities over the year.

My name is Rory, and I am a House Captain.
I have been at this school since 2015 and I am proud to be awarded the role of House Captain for Seacole! I will bring determination, passion, and enthusiasm to this important role. I will help on Sports Day, competitions and events being held this year. I love sports, especially basketball, and can tell you all the flags in the world (countries and islands).
I think House Captain is not just about being good at sports, it is also about your behaviour during sports. I've always wanted a blue tie and I am proud to have earned one.
Each year children in Year 6 have the opportunity to apply for additional roles to support the school and help to reinforce the SPS Way and values.
We are lucky enough to have a wonderful library, and we rely on our Junior Librarians to check books in, and keep everything in good order.
Our Junior Librarians this year are: Lakshmi A, Amber G, Lanna P B, Joanne J, Bhavi A and Isabella C.
Office Monitors help Ms Nayak and Mrs Clarke to deliver important messages and items around the school. These pupils must be reliable and have strong timekeeping skills to ensure the smooth running of the school.
This year, we are pleased to introduce our Office Monitors as: Eliana D, Myaa P, Amelia P, Tom A and Charlie I.
Buddies complete a buddy training program with Mr Lawson in the autumn term to help them develop skills for supporting younger children whilst on duty. Buddies on are a rota for Lower Prep playgrounds during break and lunch times.
