As your child takes their final steps at Staines Prep before heading off for new adventures they will relish the opportunity to take on roles of responsibility throughout the school.
Our Pupil Leadership Team roles given to our Year 6 pupils include Head Boy and Head Girl, Prefects and House Captains.
Towards the end of Year 5 your child can apply for a role, stating their case as to what they would like to do and what they can bring to the role. Following interviews, pupil votes and staff discussions our Senior Leadership Team makes the final decisions, to be announced in the first week of the new academic year (autumn term).
Many congratulations to our Pupil Leadership Team who have been chosen to represent SPS for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Head Boy and Head Girl are ambassadors for the school, confidently making speeches at functions or showing prospective parents round the school. They set a high standard in both behaviour and personal presentation.
We are pleased to introduce this year’s Head Girl as Keerat T and Head Boy as Ahrin K.
My name is Keerat, I joined Staines Prep in Nursery, and I feel honoured to be presented with the role of Head Girl.
During my time at the school, I have always admired the children with blue ties as it is a privilege to be given a role which comes with a lot of responsibility. As Head Girl, I hope to be a good representative for my peers and good role model for the younger pupils by following The Staines Prep Way.
I have a passion for reading, baking and creative arts, my stationery and book collection are quite large. I enjoy playing netball, tennis and cricket, as well as gymnastics and taekwondo (I am a blue belt).
I am really looking forward to taking on this responsibility so that the Pupil Leadership Team and I can continue to make the school an enjoyable and welcoming place for everyone.
My name is Ahrin, and I am Head Boy.
As Ms Sawyer announced Head Boy, my heart was racing, and my hands were sweating as I waited for her to say the name. When my name was called out, I felt excited and proud of my achievement.
As your Head Boy, I’m committed to leading by example with the Staines Prep Way, something that has helped me in many situations and I believe it is a great stepping stone to the real world.
We have an awesome team of Prefects, House Captains and Buddies, you have our word that we’ll make sure everyone feels supported and heard, and together we can make SPS a huge success.
A little bit about me, in my spare time I play football in the winter, tennis and cricket in the summer. I am not a great singer, but I love playing the ukulele!
Let’s make this year, 2024/25 a brilliant one, full of fun for everyone!

In the assembly, I was buzzing with excitement when Ms Sawyer announced my name for the Prefect role. I am looking forward to helping with Open Mornings and other special school events. I am also a Buddy, and I hope that with these two roles I will be able to give something back to the school community in my final year at SPS.
I enjoy many sports including climbing, cycling, cricket and swimming. One of my favourite hobbies is playing the piano and I also enjoy singing in the school Chamber Choir.
My name is Ilyana, and I am honoured to have been selected as Prefect.

My favourite subjects are English and Maths, and I also enjoy playing netball and cricket. As a Prefect, I will do my best to be a great role model for others, and as a Buddy, I am always here to help if anyone has any problems. Feel free to come to me if you need support.

I am grateful to all that have supported me in getting this role of responsibility, including Stanley the school dog. I will repay their help by continuing to work hard and set a good example to the younger children at SPS and encourage everyone to also do their best.
I will be especially encouraging to my House on Sports Day and looking forward to waving the House flag.
My name is Henry, and I am a House Captain of Dahl.
I started at Nursery at Staines Prep back in 2017. Even back then I wondered what it would be like to be an older pupil at SPS who would help all the younger children at the school. I was very happy when I was awarded the role in assembly.
I think I am a great fit for this role as I enjoy most sports like rugby, football and cricket, all of which are played at SPS. In my role I will encourage all pupils to have a good sporting attitude.
My hobbies outside of sports are sketching, online gaming and helping others with the 8th Ashford Cub Scouts. I look forward to giving back to the school.

Those that know me would say that I am very competitive, but also a supportive team member!
I already have some new ideas for sports at SPS that I cannot wait to present to my teachers. My goal is to be a good role model and show all the younger pupils that it is possible for anyone to enjoy all sports and achieve their goals.
As a Buddy, I will be able to provide support and comfort to the younger pupils that need it.

I am also a Buddy and am happy to help and support younger children at the school.
My name is Sienna, and I am proud to be the House Captain for Ennis-Hill.
Ever since joining SPS in Nursery, I have always aspired to wear a blue tie. I was especially inspired by the House Captains and how they were always so kind and considerate towards the younger years, a quality I want to portray. When Ms Sawyer called out my name, I felt so privileged to be a part of the Pupil Leadership Team.
I have always loved and enjoyed sports especially netball and gymnastics and hope I can encourage others to have as much enthusiasm for sports as I do. I am thrilled to lead Ennis-Hill in sports, and I will motivate everyone to try their best.
I hope to be an amazing House Captain and good role model to my peers at Staines Prep.
My name is Asees, and I am a House Captain of Ennis-Hill and Buddy.

My name is Eesa, and I am a House Captain of Seacole.
Ever since Year 1, I have admired the pupils in Year 6 wearing a blue tie and was inspired by them to obtain one.
Being selected as part of the Pupil Leadership Team (and receiving the prestigious blue tie) is a great honour and a responsibility that I am proud to embrace.
I love sports, particularly cricket, rugby, football and tennis. As a House Captain, my goal is to inspire my House to always strive for excellence, work together, and show respect to each other and our opponents. For me, this role is about more than just leadership; it is about being a positive role model and supporting every member of the House to feel valued and involved.
I look forward to working with my fellow leaders to make a meaningful impact on our school.
Each year children in Year 6 have the opportunity to apply for additional roles to support the school and help to reinforce The Staines Prep Way and values.
We are lucky enough to have a wonderful library, and we rely on our Junior Librarians to check books in, and keep everything in good order.
Our Junior Librarians this year are: Diya A, Thomas G, Lila M, Larissa G-C, Eva B, Zea A, and Esme S-L.
Office Monitors help Ms Nayak and Mrs Clarke to deliver important messages and items around the school. These pupils must be reliable and have strong timekeeping skills to ensure the smooth running of the school.
This year, we are pleased to introduce our Office Monitors as: Elizabeth B, Gift A, Bethan L, Anneliese B and Shiven S.
Buddies complete a Buddy Training Program with Mr Lawson in the autumn term to help them develop skills for supporting younger children whilst on duty. Buddies on are a rota for Lower Prep playgrounds during break and lunch times.
"A Buddy system exists for all Year 6 pupils to support younger pupils during breaks... These roles of responsibility help develop pupils' leadership skills."
