Early Years is the first step on your child’s educational journey. Here at Staines Prep we believe that happy children are successful learners, and we strive to ensure that each and every one of our pupils are happy, settled and thriving in our nurturing and caring environment.
We want our youngest learners to develop a love of learning that will continue to develop as they grow and move through the school.
The children are divided into two groups within our nursery setting – Seedlings (N1) and Petals (N2).
– Seedlings accepts pupils from the age of 2 years old.
– Petals accepts pupils from the age of the academic year in which they turn 4 years old.
We equip our pupils with the skills they will need to help them become independent and active learners, and the characteristics of effective learning underpin everything that we do. These are: playing and exploring, active learning and creating and thinking critically.
Pupils have opportunities to explore and learn in bright, spacious classrooms with access to well-equipped outdoor learning areas. Through use of our high-quality resources, hands-on learning opportunities and our highly skilled practitioners, we encourage our pupils to become curious, inquisitive, and independent learners. They create foundational building blocks for learning which ignite their passion for learning and leave the nursery well prepared for the rest of their time with us.

"My son absolutely loves Sunflowers Nursery. He's been there for over a year now and adores all his teachers and classmates. We have seen huge developments in his behaviour and learning, and also conduct. We love the community the nursery and school have to offer."
