Upper School Poetry Competition

Thursday 5th October was National Poetry Day when people across the country come together to share and experience the power of a poem! To celebrate, yesterday we held our annual SPS Poetry Competition. Sixteen children from Years 3 to 6 recited their poems to an excited audience of parents and children.

Congratulations to all of our finalists and a special well done to the winners for each year group:

Year 3:

Year 4:

  • Agastya N – Captain, My Captain (Seacole)

Year 5:

  • Sienna P – Our World (Ennis- Hill)
  • Keerat T – Climate Change (Attenborough)
  • Saahib B – The Flea (Seacole)

Year 6: 

  • Shreya S – Good Morning, Dear Students (Ennis-Hill)
  • Joanne J – Don’t Quit (Attenborough)
  • Lanna P B – Life Doesn’t Frighten Me (Seacole)
  • Josephine D – Cinderella (Dahl)

Some of our Year 6 Prefects have also been sharing their poems with the younger children. Amaya, Harry and Kaavya visited the Reception, Year 1 & 2 classes to read them some of their favourite poems.
