Lower School

In Lower School we put happiness and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.

A happy child is able to learn and develop academically, but equally importantly they grow personally and socially. A supportive and nurturing environment is created in every classroom which enables pupils to feel confident and secure. We work in partnership with parents to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

Embedded within the teaching and learning in Lower School is our set of core values: The Staines Prep Way. In addition to this, we teach our pupils to develop a Growth Mindset which encourages pupils to be resilient, determined learners by teaching them to overcome obstacles when developing a new skill.

Upper School

In the Upper School, we build on the strong foundations provided by the Lower School and continue to foster a passion for learning.

As pupils move on through the years, they are encouraged to develop more independent learning skills and are offered challenges and opportunities to help unlock their potential.

In Years 4 to 6, pupils follow a subject-based lesson timetable and independently move around the school being taught by a range of subject-skilled teachers. Our Science Lab, Art Design Technology Suite and Forest School areas are incorporated into the curriculum which provides exciting learning opportunities for pupils. Pupils develop good levels of resilience, independence and confidence which helps prepare them for their transition into secondary education.
