The Friends of Staines Prep (the “Friends”) was formed in 1989 to bring together pupils, their parents and families and the staff. The Committee is made up of enthusiastic parents and staff throughout the school who raise funds for Staines Preparatory School, by organising a range of fun events and activities for the children and their families throughout the year.
The Current committee is made up of the following (with children in school years):
Chair - Michelle Nicklette (Yrs 4 & 6)
Vice Chair - Harpreet Thandi (Yrs 1 & 4)
Secretary - Aman Bhathal (Yr 1)
Treasurer - Sunil Sharma (Yr 1)
Teacher Representatives: Mrs S Pearce
General Members: Neesha Hall (Yr 3) Amandip Grewal (Yrs 3 & 6), Marina Lancashire (Nursery), Kam Sanghera (Yrs 1 & 5), Amar Dhaliwal (Yrs 1 & 4), Kam Patel (Yrs 1 &4).
The Friends organise a number of events each term, previous events for the children have included:
- Movie Nights
- Easter Egg Disco (for upper school)
- Easter Egg Hunt (for lower school); and
- Someone Special Gifting Room (for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day).
There are also a number of events for the whole family each academic year, including; the Fireworks Extravaganza, Christmas Event with Santa’s Grotto and the Summer BBQ Event. This year we also hosted our first Friends International Dance, a disco for the whole family!
The funds raised from these events have been used to purchase some great new facilities for the children, including;
- A new mini bus
- An environmental area
- A outdoor climbing wall
- Refurbishment of the school library; and
- A trim trail.
In addition to all of this, the Friends also purchase some annual ‘extras’ for the benefit of the children; playground equipment, toys and equipment for the nursery, Easter eggs for all nursery children, water bottles for all new starters, recorders for each child in Year 3 and ice lollies for all the children on Sports Day.
The Friends are all hard working parents who volunteer the spare time to organise these events for the children and their families. We are always looking to welcome new volunteers to share their experience and knowledge to help develop exciting new events and other fundraising ideas, so come and join the committee or you can help at one of the events – everyone is a Friend!
